Sexual violence is a growing problem and at the same time hidden, due to all the implications that it generates around the victim. Its consequences are devastating in the physical, psychological and social spheres. The approach to this phenomenon requires detailed knowledge of its behavior, absent in the population of Armenia. A descriptive, retrospective, study of the medical-legal sexological reports on possible sexual offenses (PDS) registered from 2005 to 2009, in the data base of the Quindío Sectional office of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (INMLCF), was performed, analyzing qualitative variables such as age, gender and relation with che perpetrator, within others.
Among relevant results, it was found that 87% of the victims were minors, in 75% of cases the victim had a family relationship with the perpetrator or at least, it was a well-known person, and 74.78% of the cases occurred at the home of the victim. Finally, this work directs competent authorities to make use of this information to identify the population at risk for sexual crimes and thus to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, this problem.
